The Police in Ondo State have launched a full-scale investigation into the alleged attack on the convoy of a member of House of Representatives, Tajudeen Adefisoye, popularly known as Small Alhaji, by political thugs in Idanre Local Government Area of the state.
The All Progressives Congress, APC federal lawmaker, who pointed accusing fingers at the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP supporters, wants the police to get to the roots of the matter.
But the state chapter of the PDP has exonerated its members from the attack.
The attack on the convoy of a member of House of Representatives, Tajudeen Adefisoye, popularly known as Small Alhaji, in Idanre by political thugs, has continued to generate reactions from different quarters.
The lawmaker, who is representing Idanre/Ifedore constituency at the House of Representatives, was allegedly attacked while returning from an outing.
Addressing journalists in Akure, Adefisoye accused the candidate of the the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for the House of Representatives and his supporters of carrying out the attack.
His vehicle was shot and part of its windscreen was partly affected.
But the PDP candidate, Festus Akingbaso exonerated himself and his supporters from the attack, describing the allegation as a blatant lie.
He accused the APC lawmaker of sponsoring thuggery in the community.
The police in the state have however launched an investigation into the matter.
As the 2023 General Elections approaches, Osun State Police Command says it will not condone any act of violence particularly with respect to the destruction of property of residents.
This is coming after reported political attacks in Ilesa by some suspected political thugs where some people were injured
In the last few weeks, there has been rise in Political violence in the State.
Billboards of various political parties are not spared in different parts of the state including Osogbo, Ijebu-jesa, Ilesa, Ede, Ikirun among others.
On the 24th of December last year, a former Commissioner for Works and Transport, Remi Omowaye was attacked and his vehicle destroyed.
Here is another attack on the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign office in Ilesa on Saturday 7th of January
Same-day, the Chief of Staff to the speaker of the state Assembly was also attacked and injured.
Members of the APC alleged that all the attacks were carried out by the PDP.
But the People’s Democratic Party debunked the allegation.
The State Police Public Relations Officer warned that the command will not condone any act of violence.
She assures law abiding residents of the state of adequate security.
