Experts believe raising awareness on the dangers associated with gender-based violence and bringing perpetrators to book is one sure way the menace can be curbed.
They made their views known during the closing ceremony of the activities of Ambassadors of Dialog Climate and Reintegration in Borno State.
The 12 year Boko Haram Insurgency in Borno has made women and girls vulnerable to sexual and gender based violence.
This menace is now worrisome to the society as victims get little or no psychological support due to fear of stigma.
It is why the ambassadors of dialogue climate and reintegration took about 2years bringing together stakeholders to build their capacity on the legal and policy framework for gender equality women empowerment and ways to end violence against women and girls.
Even as the ambassadors of dialog climate and reintegration wind up their activities in the state, stakeholders are of the view that raising awareness on the need to speak out and bring in perpetrators to book is one sure way of eliminating sexual and gender based violence.
As Issues of gender based violence continue to linger in the society, stakeholders believe that everyone has a role to play in advocating for more policies to be enacted so as to protect the vulnerable and bring perpetrators to justice.
