The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has activated the national multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary Lassa fever Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in response to the recent outbreak in several parts of the country.
The agency revealed that it became necessary due to an increase in the number of confirmed Lassa fever cases across the country.
There have been 115 confirmed cases in Nigeria thus far, with 26 deaths reported across 11 states.
