The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG has called off its strike. The decision follows an emergency meeting of the union leaders with the management of the NNPC in Abuja.
NUPENG had said it was unhappy with the state of refineries in Nigeria, as well as what it called the politics involved in the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill.
Part of the grouse of the Union was what it described as the poor working conditions of petroleum workers.
Tayo Aboyeji is the Zonal Public Relations officer of NUPENG. He confirmed this development.
