Exploiting the agricultural space with the use of technology is one way of boosting the country’s economy.
The Executive Vice Chairman of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), made this remark at an event establishing the Agricultural Machinery equipment and development institute at Obudu in Cross River state.
The country is lagging behind in the use of technology to boost agricultural development.
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is the only on-purpose built intervention agency of the Federal Government promoting the use of technology in the agricultural sector.
The mandate of the Agency includes the development of relevant processes, capital goods and equipment necessary for job creation, particularly for agricultural produce.
The Agricultural Machinery Equipment and Development Institute is being established at Obudu.
The Executive vice chairman of the Agency is pleased at this development which he feels will greatly aid Nigeria’s gradual evolution into mechanised agriculture.
The Save 80 Cooking Stove produced by NASENI was shared among beneficiaries by the cross River state Governor
Chairman of the occasion believes that the use of technology in agriculture will help increase yields than manual labour.
Residents of the host community pledges to properly use the skills and knowledge they acquire from the institute.
This structure is expected to be commissioned in July 2023.
