The Niger state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has embarked on a 7 day warning strike effective from midnight of 6th march 2022.
According to a circular made available to the public The issues of contention leading to the strike are :
Non payment of salary arrears to state and LGA workers. Non payment of gratuities to desirable retirees.
Payment of monthly salaries in percentage basis to local government workers.
Non remittance of deductions made from salaries of civil servants in favour of National Housing Fund, cooperatives, Endwell, Sharp-Sharp and Union dues
All public institutions are currently locked down in the state including hospitals.
Public Primary schools have also not not been operational for 3 months since primary school teachers embarked on strike since last year.
