The Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, in Nasarawa State, Muhammed Shehu, has been released by his abductors.
Police authorities in the state who confirmed the development said Mr Shehu and his aide regained their freedom in the early hours of Sunday, following the efforts of the combined team of security personnel.
This is coming two days after the victims were whisked away by the gunmen.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Rahman Nansel said they were released unhurt, adding that the police operatives also arrested three suspects in connection with the incident.
The suspects were said to be on their way to collect ransom when they were apprehended and are assisting the authorities in the ongoing investigation into the abduction.
