Edo State government has threatened to sanctions any petroleum products marketer found deliberately inflicting hardship on fuel users in the state through hike in pump price
This was made know at a press briefing by the commissioner for Mining, Oil and Gas, Ethan Uzamere in Benin city..
Ethan Uzamere said seven hundred and eighty-four thousand litres of petrol was allocated to Edo State as at Monday
He further explained that steps have been taken to ensure effective distribution of the product as the setting up of a taskforce with a mandate to ensure no diversion is tolerated is in the offing
Other officials speak on the determination of the government to punish any petroleum products marketer found diverting or hiking pump price of petrol.
CBN Engages Micro – Finance Banks, POS Operators To Swap Currency Notes In 4 Zamfara Troubled LGA’S
In its Continuous effort to ensure the availability of the new currency notes, the Central Bank of Nigeria says it engaged the Micro Finance Banks and POS Operators to swap the old naira with new notes across troubled Communities in Zamfara
The communities are within Zurmi, Shinkafi, Birnin Magaji and Dansadau in maru Local Councils considered to be the hotbeds of Banditry and Kidnapping
The move is to ease the stress for the rural dwellers, those that do not have bank account and also to safe bankers from security risk
At a press conference in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara state, the CBN Branch Controller Buhari Abbas Insist only ten thousand naira will be swapped for an Individual
” We at the CBN have made arrangements to ensure the availability of the new currency notes in Zamfara rural areas especially those bedevilled by Insecurity” the Branch Controller he said.
“The Nigeria’s Apex Bank has engaged some micro – Finance Banks and POS Operators in four local Councils of Zurmi, Shinkafi, Birnin Magaji, and Dansadau in maru Local Councils, which are considered to be the hot beds of Banditry and Kidnapping” he added
“Only the sum of ten thousand naira can be swapped for an Individual” Mr. Buhari insist
This Development is coming at the time the Central Bank extended the dateline period for the old currency notes to cease circulation, yet many Nigerians have Continued to struggle on long queue to get the new naira notes
Though the apex Bank Insist there’s enough redesigned currency notes in circulation across the country
The new naira notes according to Nigeria’s Apex Bank has security features that can not be counterfeited
When TVC NEWS visited some ATM Machines in Gusau, some Bank customers Ibrahim Ado and Al’amin Salha say they spent several hours on queue Before they’re being paid
They also lament the high charges by POS Operators especially in rural areas
The central Bank in Zamfara says it has not recorded any case of selling the new naira notes by either commercial Banks or POS Operators, but warn that anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law.
NSCDC RAIDS ADULTERATED DIESEL SYNDICATE IN KANO
The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have apprehended 19 suspected diesel adulterers in Kano State.
The Squad also sealed off three illegal diesel dump site where the suspects operate.
It is a bad day for these men suspected of adulterating automotive gas oil also known as diesel.
They are here at the command headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for interrogation and prosecution.
The suspects were apprehended at three illegal diesel dump sites in Kano state, Northwest Nigeria.
Prior to the arrest of the suspects, the NSCDC’s Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad raided three illegal diesel dump sites at Hotoro area of Kano state.
Three of the sites were sealed with one containing a truck suspected to be laden with the adulterated product.
At one of the sites, trucks and other valuables were seen damaged after a mid-night fire incident.
The incident operatives say would have been much worse due to the location of the illegal AGO site.
The operatives are moving from one destination to another in search for more suspects.
They are optimistic that with more arrests and prosecution of operators of illegal petroleum products sites, the future of Nigeria would be brighter.
