The Kaduna state government has reaffirmed its commitment to empowerment more women entrepreneurs in the state.
The Deputy governor Hadiza Balarebe revealed this in Kaduna, the state capital, at the graduation of over 50 women trained in various vocational skills.
The trainings were facilitated by the Academy Of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE ) and the Women Interfaith Council (WIC)
Vocational skill training is one of the ways the Women Interfaith Council empowers women.
At least 55 women from various communities in Kaduna state have benefited so far.
The women were taught how to make cream and perfume, as well as cakes and pastries, among other things.
They were joined by Hadiza Balarebe, the deputy governor, who sees women empowerment as a means of empowering vulnerable women and closing gender gaps.
The Women Interfaith Council graduated over fifty beneficiaries of its skill acquisition program in a similar event in Southern Kaduna.
The majority of them are victims or survivors of the zone’s banditry and ethno-religious unrest.
The women’s interfaith council was formed in response to the deplorable state of their community, particularly that of the women.
They hope that the skill-building program will not only empower women but also foster tolerance in their communities.
Both organizations have provided start-up funds to the recipients.
In addition, the Kaduna government has made a promise with more interventions with the goal of liberating more women.
