President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over this week’s federal executive council meeting in the presidential villa.
In attendance at The meeting attending are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, Chief of staff to the president Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Head of Service, ministers and other members of the president’s cabinet.
This meeting comes a day after President Buhari sent a list of ministerial nominees to the national assembly for their approval as he seeks to fill up the positions of some ministers who resigned their appointment to contest for elective offices.
The Council is expected to come up with resolutions on critical issues of National Development.
Immediately after the federal executive council meeting, President Buhari will travel to Kigali in Rwanda to attend the commonwealth heads of government meeting where he will join other leaders to participate in discussions focused on the progress and prosperity of more than two billion people living in the fifty four commonwealth member countries.
At the meeting in Kigali, the president is expected to give remarks at the high-level session of malaria and neglected tropical diseases summit and participate in intergenerational dialogue for youths.
The Commonwealth Heads of State and Governments, CHOGM, meeting which is holding in Kigali Rwanda is expected to focus on harnessing the Youths as a means of raising prductivity and enhancing National Development.
This the first Face to Face meeting of the Commonwealth since the Outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic which has changed much of what people see as day to day running and has also led to a crash in Worldwide Economic output and Development.
Nigeria last hosted the CHOGM meeting in 2003 under the adminstration of Fomer President Olusegun Obasanjo.
A Nigerian, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, was also te Secretary General of the Commonwealth for a period of ten years between 1990-2000.
