Statehouse Correspondent Tai Amodu reports that a lot of the Millennium Development Goals were not met within the time frame it ran, and stakeholders have blamed this on the fact that there was no effective monitoring process and the fact that Nigerian citizens were not involved in the implementation process nor were they made to own the MDG projects.
Many of the MDGs not achieved have been rolled over into the Sustainable Development Goals and the Nigerian Government is determined to ensure that mistakes of the past are addressed.
One of the measures put in place to ensure this, is Nigeria’s decision to open itself to scrutiny by the United Nations and its member states through the preparation of a Voluntary report on the progress it has made so far
