Following the unfortunate death of a 12-year-old student of Chrisland High School, Lagos, Whitney Adeniran, during the school’s inter-house sports, the deceased’s parents have accused the school management of negligence.
Senior Correspondent, Sharon Ijasan reports that the family wants the state government and relevant authorities to intervene.
It was a sad moment for the Adeniran’s family as relatives, friends, parents visited the bereaved parents following the death of their daughter during Chrisland school inter-house sport competition which took place at Agege Stadium last Thursday.
Chrisland school representative tried to console the family but they insist the school has to reveal the cause of their ward’s death.
In a press statement released by the management of the school, authorities say Whitney Adeniran was not in perfect health
Whitney’s Dad, Mike Adeniran in a brief interview, insists that his daughter’s friends have revealed what killed her and the school should own up to it.
This is the second time Chrisland Schools is in the news for the wrong reason. Last year, a video of a female student being involved in immorality with her schoolmates during a competition in Dubai had sparked outrage.
Michael Adeniran, Whitney’s father, had taken to social media on Saturday night to demand a probe into the death of his daughter, calling on the Lagos State government and the Police to intervene in the matter.
He also demanded Chrisland explain what actually happened to his daughter, adding that she had no health condition or sickness as of the time the school bus picked her up for the event.
Father of the deceased student said his daughter Whitney was not sick when the school bus picked her up for the event.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident saying, “the matter was reported to the police immediately after the incident occurred.
