The Corporate Affairs Commission is phasing out hard copy applications for business registration.
The commission says this is to help make such services faster.
Online business registration is part of the Nigerian government’s efforts at improving the ease of doing business in the country for investment growth.
It is a development the Corporate Affairs Commission claims has allowed for company registration, acquiring business names and incorporated trusteeship within twenty four hours of filing applications.
The CAC is now limiting applications in some parts of the country to electronic platforms so that such services can be delivered faster and more conveniently.
The primary beneficiaries of this initiative will be small business owners who had in the past, found costs of registering businesses through lawyers expensive.
Such can now register their operations quicker and cheaper too.
The agency adds that existing paper applications will be processed.
Decentralisation of operations, creation of public search windows, direct registration of companies by first directors and review of service timelines are some of the reforms CAC has introduced to aid the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
