The Senate has asked the Inspector General of Police to urgently provide security at Ewu community in Edo state and other parts of Nigeria following recent attacks by murderous herdsmen who killed and raped residents of the area.
The directive followed a motion by Edo central senator, Clifford Ordia, who lamented the invasion of the community by the armed herdsmen which left two persons dead and many residents fleeing the area.
The Senate also directed the National Emergency Management Agency to immediately visit Ewu community and provide relief materials to the injured.
