Turkish Prime minister Yildrim has declared vicktory for “YES” camp from unofficial results in the country’s referendum.
The prime minister assured supporters at a victory rally that the YES side is leading after a referendum that will give the President more powers.
The new system will replace Turkey’s parliamentary democracy with an all-powerful presidency and may see Erdogan in office until at least 2029.
The outcome will also shape Turkey’s strained relations with the European Union.
Some 55 million people are eligible to vote at 167,140 polling stations across the nation. Turkish voters abroad have already cast their ballots.
But Opponents say it is a step towards greater authoritarianism.
