No fewer than 250 thousand residents of Kano now have the newly introduced pre-paid meters in the state.
The residents expressed joy that they are among the lucky ones enjoying the technology.
In June 2016, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola was in Kano, the commercial hub of the North to flag off the distribution of more than 1000 meters in some parts of the metropolis.
Since then, residents of Kano have had the privilege of using electricity through the prepaid meters.
Today, in most towns in 8 local government areas of Kano State, the prepaid meters are rarely seen. Although, some homes and offices now use them.
Those who are yet to get the meters are hopeful that in a few years from now they would form part of those experiencing that technology.
