The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has petitioned the United Nations to compel the federal government to investigate the deaths of three Queen’s College students.”
The students died earlier in the year after an epidemic of gastro-enteritis in the school.
In the petition addressed to four United Nations Special Rapporteurs, SERAP says corruption by the leadership of the school has ruined the lives of pupils, and squandered their potential for personal development.
SERAP is also asking that the UN rapporteurs visit the country and assess efforts by the education ministry and Queen’s College to implement the recommendations in the petition.
The organisation also called for the audit of Queen’s College and other unity schools across the country.
