Governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku says the just concluded governorship election was peacefully carried out.
Governor Ishaku stated that the exercise, processes went on very peacefully noting that the police, military and all the security agents were on top of their work and it was a process of the recounting and the Coalition that took a lot of time but everything went smoothly.
Speaking on TVC News, the governor said Taraba state over came the zoning process which was purely a purely a party affairs.
He said voting generally spread across the whole state especially as traditionally Taraba is a PDP state.
Speaking of his senatorial loss in Taraba South, governor Ishaku said every election has its peculiarities but be that as it may, in his case, there were a lot of conspiracies.
According to him, losing his senatorial bid is something he did not worry about too much as he was more concerned with the governorship election and its outcome.
Reacting to if the opinion that the senatorial election was the people’s verdict on his performance, Governor Ishaku said it is not the peoples choice.
“I can tell you it’s not in fact even if I had vied as a senator in the North or in the central zone, I will win.
“There was conspiracy between the parties and the candidates, as the time I went to election there are two or three candidates of APC all campaigning against me and other parties and the electorates were all confused, they didn’t know where and how to vote, which further compounded the electoral victory on my side.
“As i said earlier, I would rather that I faced the gubernatorial squarely and put somebody to take over from me than to stay thinking about losing the senatorial seat.
As the the countdown begins to exit office, Governor Ishaku said the people of Taraba will remember him in a lot of ways as he impacted lives across the divides.
According to him, he has done extremely well in Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure and most especially the Education sector.
Governor Ishaku added that he will be leaving office as a fulfilled man because of what he has been able to achieve for the state in his administration.
