Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola says the power sector now has an increase in generation capacity to more than 6,000 Megawatts and available transmission capacity is recorded as 6, 700 Megawatts in August, 2017.
The Power, Works, and Housing Minister made the disclosure in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria shortly after attending the 18th meeting of stakeholders in the country’s power sector.
According to the Power Minister, the federal government has as part of its strategies optimised the electricity sector reform act to enable increment in the provision of meters to consumers in the country.
On his part, Interim Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), says modalities are being put in place to ensure Distribution Companies are provided with capacity for the smooth development of the power sector in the country.
