The Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole has launched a two-thousand-man Mobile Strike Force, for long range highway patrol.
TVC News Kolomi Dala who witnessed the event in Maiduguri filed reports that it’s a combination of highly trained special forces from the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Buni Yadi, Yobe State.
The taskforce will be deployed to different locations on patrol to enhance the operational efficiency of Operation Lafiya Dole troops, as they bid to flush out remnants of Boko Haram Terrorists and end ambushes on highways.
The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. General Ibrahim Attahiru who spoke to TVC News, said the taskforce will help the operation of the command to effectively deliver on its mandate to flush out insurgents no matter their hideouts.
Similarly, the Nigerian Army Directorate of Civil Military Relations has organised a sensitisation workshop on human rights for soldiers serving in the north east of Nigeria.
Speaking on the inauguration, General Officer Commanding the 7 Division spoke on the idea behind the workshop.
Maj Gen Nuhu Amgbazo, head of the Army’s Civil-Military Relations Department said it was important for soldiers to have the workshop at this stage of ongoing military operations in the north east against Boko Haram.
The events were held simultaneously at the headquarters of Operation Lafiya dole, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
Observers said the deployment and workshop couldn’t have come at a better time, as the Nigerian Army pursues a decisive victory over Boko Haram insurgents.
