The Church in Nigeria has contributed to heating up the Polity in the period leading up to the 2023 Elections and since the result have been announced across the Country.
Guest and Contributors on Journalists Hangout on Sundae this disclosure while reacting to the apology by Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry of the Catholic Church to God and the people for the activities of some pastors in the period leading up to the Election and since the results were announced.
Babajide Kolade-Otitoju who led discussion on the issue said the church did more harm than good in the period leading to the Elections and since the results were announced with name calling of some pastors on some Political parties and actors creating unnecessary tension in the polity.
According to him, the job of a Pastor or clergyman is to ensure that all persons are brought to salvation and not some.
He described the abuses and curses being rained on some Political parties by some Pastors from the pulpit is unprecedented and divisive even within the Church.
He said the opinion shared by some of the Pastors as nothing to do with Religion or God but just their personal opinion.
Babajide Kolade-Otitoju said the comments by some of the pastors are responsible for the insistence of some Nigerians on the Interim Government because they heard it from their Pastor
He said Reno Omokri who he does not listen to or read also made pointed comments about the gamble taken by the church to push Peter Obi’s candidature presenting it as one ordained by God.
According to him another Pastor made the prediction that Peter Obi will come Second but this also failed with him only third, he asked if this will be overturned with him as the second placed person in the Election.
He also berated a Pastor who is based outside Nigeria who has been calling for violence if the President Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sworn in on May 29.
For his part, Wale Adeoye, asked there are prophets with both Islam and Christianity recognising people as Prophets in the two holy books.
He said there are men of God in Nigeria but added that those who we all think are prophets have just been able to commercialise religion and have been milking it that way.
He disclosed that not one of the prophecies made by the so called men of God have been on point.
He described them as gamblers who watch the Society and make assumption about the society.
He said the mind is so easy to manipulate irrespective of the Educational qualification.

RUFAI ALKALI RESIGNS AS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF NNPP
The National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Prof. Ahmed Rufai Alkali has resigned.
The NNPP and its Presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso came fourth in the recently concluded Presidential elections but won Kano governorship.
In a letter dated March 31, 2023 and addressed to the National Secretary, Prof. Alkali said he was resigning as National Chairman to pave way for the restructuring of the party and reposition it for the task ahead.
The resignation letter is coming barely 24 hours after the National Executive Committee meeting of the party.
The letter was copied to the Presidential candidate and Leader of the party, Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Elder Chief Boniface Aniebonam, and the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Engr Buba Galadima.
He said there was the need for leaders of the party to make sacrifice to allow for the repositioning of the party to be in a position to win all future elections, saying he believed that the sacrifice must start from him.
The letter reads “I am pleased to write and convey to you that I have stepped aside as the National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with effect from today, Friday 31st March, 2023.
“Following keenly the events before, during and after the recent General elections held on 25th February and 18th March 2023, it is my humble view that our party, the NNPP, has a great future and potential to emerge as the leading political force that is capable of winning the Presidential and all other elections in 2027.
“To achieve this, we must think ahead and plan ahead. And the time is now. Our great party, the New Nigeria People’s Party will require major and fundamental structural and systemic changes and reorganization at all levels of the party in order to strengthen its base, improve its operational capabilities and generally enhance its competitive advantage over and above all the other 17 political parties on the INEC nominal roll.
“Since, we as a party, all believe in and aspire to bring in a better Nigeria though the astute leadership of our Leader, His Excellency, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, I believe, no sacrifice is to much from each and every one of us.
“I am convinced, this change must start from me. This is precisely why I have decided, with all sense of responsibility, to step aside from the office of the National Chairman of our party to give room for fresh hands to take over and build upon and improve on our modest contributions. I wish, I have done more.
“By this letter, I also wish to inform our National Leader and Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and our entire members nationwide that I am still and will remain a bonafide member of our party and I pledge to serve and offer support to our Party at all levels to ensure the continued progress and advancement of our party.
“I wish to also extend my special appreciation to our National Leader Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who in the last three years, offered me unique and rare opportunities to serve in various capacities from the formative stages of The National Movement (TNM) and after the merger between the TNM and the old NNPP was ultimately consummated. This rare privilege, I can not take for granted.
“I wish to therefore extend my special and sincere appreciation to our National Leader, His Excellency Sen Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Ph. D.
