President Muhammadu Buhari says only candidates fielded by the All Progressives Congress will enjoy his support in the build up to the 2023 general election.
He also says politicians that have decamped from the APC or who are still in court against official candidates of the APC are on their own and should not link him with their actions.

A statement signed by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu said President Muhammadu Buhari remains a disciplined statesman and soldier” of the All Progressives Congress, and will, in all the coming elections, support only those candidates fielded by the party and no other.
President Buhari said he will not betray or undermine his party by supporting candidates other than those of the APC.
The president also directed officials in and around the Presidential Villa and all those engaging in loose talk to desist from making untrue and unfounded statements that will not help the party in any way.
He said in 2023, there will be no candidate perceived as enjoying support from the villa, but only APC candidates will be supported to win.
The president’s statement is coming off the feels of internal crisis within the party and some irreconcilable differences arising from APC primary elections across the country.
