The Nigerian Army says it is saddened by news of an attack on journalists by some persons suspected to be military personnel in Umuahia on Tuesday morning.
According to the spokesman of the Nigerian Army 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Major Oyegoke Gbadamosi, the military high command will investigate the cause of the incident.
Journalists allege that some soldiers, on a ‘show of force’ halted their convoy, jumped out of their trucks and headed for the NUJ office at No. 1 Aba Road, Umuahia.
There, the detachment of military operatives, believed to be troops of “Operation Python Dance’ manhandled journalists, destroying their equipment and mobile devices.
