Crowds of protesters, including many British citizens, gathered in the center of the Italian city of Florence to protest against the British government’s Brexit stance following Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit speech in the city on Friday.
The protesters were seen chanting slogans, waving placards, and demonstrating around a square where they finally held a rally.
Some British citizens say they specially made the trip to Florence to express their discontent over the British government’s move to break the United Kingdom away from the European Union.
Roger Casale, the chair of an anti-Brexit group called the New Europeans, blamed the leadership of both the UK and EU for putting the lives of those affected in jeopardy during their negotiations.
