Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria said nonexistence of medical surveillance is responsible for reemergence of communicable diseases in the Country.
The National President, Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Toyosi Raheem stated this while addressing newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State.
He decried reemergence of some communicable diseases earlier declared as eradicated in Nigeria like Lassa Fever and Yellow fever urging Government to step up its medical surveillance and continuous assessment of vaccines
meant to cure them.
The Association threatened to join the ongoing Joint Health Sector, JOHESU Strike unless Government address the Challenges facing the Health Sector across the country.
According to him, challenges of poor funding, lack of necessary medical facilities and infrastructural facilities are responsible for medical tourism and brain drain in the sector.
