President Muhammadu Buhari has presented Aishah Ahmad to the Senate for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
She is to replace former Deputy Governor, who retired early this year.
President Buhari has asked the Senate to consider the speedy confirmation of Ahmad, so she can resume work immediately.
A statement from Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, on Thursday, noted that the appointment was in accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007.
Buhari has urged Senate President Bukola Saraki to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs. Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately.
In the same vein, the president has written the Senate, seeking the confirmation of appointment of members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN.
They are to replace four members, whose tenure expires at the end of this year.
The nominees are Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju; Dr. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi; Dr. Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr. Asheikh A. Maidugu.
After Senate clearance, the new members of the Monetary Policy Committee are to resume duties January.
I have read her profile, nothing special about her about her credentials apart being the wife a General & quick fix promotion. This a terrible thing as I can see being groomed for CBN governor. I feel sorry for all the hard working women with far more better credential inthe banking sector & in particular CBN. This is one of the things dat killed the public service wen mediocrity was introduced.
