The event which is seen as another milestone in the ongoing Ogoni cleanup exercise took place in Khana Local Government Area.
The federal government is now set to build a Center of Excellence in Khana Local Government Area.
The project is driven by the recommendations in the United Nations Environmental Program report on the cleanup of Ogoni land.
It will serve as an international research institute and house a contaminated soil management center.
It is hoped that this would help to build expertise in environmental protection and remediation for Nigeria.
All is also set for Construction of the Ogoni Specialist Hospital in Tai Local Government Area.
There are also plans for an Ogoni power project in Gokana Local Government Area which is targeted at improving the socioeconomic well-being of the oil impacted communities.
With these projects and taking stock of the last 7 years since the Ogoni cleanup began, the Federal Government believes it is making progress.
