An Egyptian police officer kidnapped during the October the 21st attack on a police convoy has been rescued and taken to a military hospital.
The Egyptian military says some militants responsible for the deadly attack have been killed, following an air raid on their base.
The raid, the second in a week targeting militants, was coordinated with police and based on intelligence about the location of their hideout.
Three security sources said at the time that at least 52 police officers were killed when their patrol came under attack, but the interior ministry has refuted that figure saying only 16 were killed.
