The war against smuggling continues as Customs officials of the Federal Operations unit seize thousands of bags of illegally imported rice and intercepted 59 new vehicles including four bullet proof vehicles all without duty payment.
The more than 6,000 bags of 50 kg foreign parboiled rice, equaling 10 truck loads, impounded by the customs operatives were concealed in vehicles that were said to contain alcoholic beverages, and others cement.
The Comptroller of the command, Mohammed Uba said the seizures were all made in October.
Uba also showcased 59 hi-tech vehicles illegally imported with a duty paid value of more than one billion naira.
Other seizures include second hand clothing and wraps of compressed Indian hemp.
