Lecturers of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics have embarked on an indefinite strike.
The Chairman of the Union, Kola Abiola made this known after the union’s congress held on the institution’s campus.
Abiola noted that their action was caused by the failure of the state government to yield to their demands on better ways to deal with controversies surrounding the conversion of the 38-year old polytechnic to a university.
He noted that the government has not been been paying their salaries regularly and alleged that they have been trailing him and some of the members of the union in order to kill them.
He said until the government call them to a meeting and resolve the matter amicably, things will not move in the institution.
