Ondo state government has given militants in the riverine communities 21 days to surrender their arms to be included in the Federal Government amnesty programme.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu made this known at the official process of amnesty for armed youths in the Niger delta region of the state.
He implored them to take advantage of the programme in the interest of peace in the state.
At the event which took place at the international event centre known as the dome, the brigade commander, 32 artillery brigade, Akure, Brigadier General James Ataguba, urged the militants to embrace peace.
He noted that no development can be achieved without peace.
In his speech, the Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty, Paul Boroh represented by his special assistant, Abdul Matt noted that the success of the programme will be determined by their support and cooperation.
