The Nigerian Senate has urged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to immediately restore the security aides of the Anambra state Governor, Willie Obiano.
The Senate resolution followed a point of order moved by Emmanuel Bwacha who earlier informed the Senate that the IG’s explanation that the Police wants a level playing ground for all contestants in the Anambra governorship election is untenable and not in line with constitutional provisions.
Senator Biodun Olujimi later moved a motion on the issue from which the Senate resolved that the police should immediately and unconditionally restore the security aides of Governor Obiano.
It also resolved that the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim should ensure that the Senate resolutions are immediately complied with by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
