The South-East Governors’ forum have described the death of Nigeria’s former Vice-President, Alex Ekwueme as the end of an era.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi says Ekwueme’s death is a rude shock and a great loss to Ndigbo in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
He described Ekwueme as a gem, gentleman, decent politician and academia, praying God to grant the deceased eternal rest in His bosom.
Also, former President Shehu Shagari is saddened at news of Alex Ekwueme’s passing.
In his condolence message, he stated “It is with a deep sense of loss that I learned about the demise of my brother and former Vice President Alex Ekwueme. The Turakin Sokoto who was the former VP was humble and obedient.”
