The paramount ruler of Bachama kingdom in Adamawa State has expressed fear that many of his subjects may not attend church services at Christmas and New Year, for fear of attacks. Honest Stephen Irmiya claims Fulani militia are lurking around his domain, waiting to strike. Residents of Bachama and some herders have been involved in clashes in recent times.
President Muhammadu Buhari has tasked Traditional rulers in Adamawa state to preach peace to their subjects for stability to be achieved in Nigeria.
The President said this in Yola while sympathising with the Hamma Bachama and Hama Bata over recent herdsmen/farmers clashes in their domains leading to the death of many people.
The SGF used the occasion to appeal to the leadership of the Fulani community to work towards peace building.
The royal father on his side appreciated president Buhari for earlier sending the Vice President and now the SSG to commiserate with them over the killings.
He commended the federal government for deploying more security personnel to the area and informed the delegation that some strange Fulani mercenaries were spotted lurking around some villages in his domain, possibly planning a fresh attack.
The SGF also visited the palace of Hama Bata Hommon Alhamdu Gladson Teneke to sympathise with him over similar incident in his domain.
The SGF had earlier discussed with the leadership of Miyetti Allah in the state, urging them to embrace peaceful coexistence with other nationalities.
The Prayers of residents in some of the affected villages in Numan and Demsa is to see more security personnel in their areas to assure them of their safety during the Christmas season.
