A former Speaker of the Katsina state House of Assembly has defected to the All Progressives Congress along with thousands of his supporters in Katsina South Senatorial District.
RT. Hon. Ya’u Umar Gwajogwajo was an eighth year Speaker of the Katsina state House of Assembly and a former Chairman of Mai’aduwa Local Government Council under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
While welcoming the former Speaker, Governor Aminu Bello Masari said the All Progressives Congress is a Party for grass roots politicians who are constantly in touch with their people.
Governor Masari added that those in the Opposition are now convinced that the APC administration at the state and Federal levels is living up to the expectations of the people, hence the increasing number of defectors mostly from the PDP to the APC across the state.
The former Speaker said he is defecting because he is fully convinced with the developmental projects and direction of the Masari led administration, stressing that Governor Masari will not be looting Public funds.
Amongst those that defected to the APC were the former Majority Leader of the state House of assembly, former Council Chairman and Commissioners from the immediate past PDP administration in the state.
