A local security source say the terrorists who came in their numbers rounded up dozens of fishermen from Kwatar Kaoulaha island in Diffa region slaughtering some and taking others hostage for disobeying a directive to leave the area.
According to the source, Boko Haram had on Friday ordered the fishermen, who were mostly from northwest Nigeria, to vacate the area and leave possessions for them or face terrible consequences.
The Nigerian army is yet to comment on the incident.
