The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, has distanced the governing party from the embarrassment occasioned by the inclusion of dead persons in the list of chairmen and members of Board of parastatals and agencies.
Oyegun made this defence when he hosted APC Correspondents in his house in Abuja.
The APC Chairman argued that the federal government would have avoided the embarrassment if it had involved the party in the final compilation of the list.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had in defence of the error explained that President Buhari had requested for the submission of 50 names each by the state chapters of the APC in 2015.
He further said that a comprehensive final list was later compiled by the national secretariat of the party.
But the chairman denies this, insisting that the party was not involved in the final stages of the compilation of the controversial list. He however expressed confidence that in spite of these setbacks, the Party is set to hit the ground running this year in its build up to the 2019 general election.
The chairman equally spoke on some giant strides of the administration, which he promised will be improved upon.
