The Nigerian Military has handed over two girls recently rescued from Boko Haram to the Borno State Government .
The ceremony was held at Government House, Maiduguri, with the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, and his top commanders, Borno state head of service, commissioners and top government dignitaries in attendance.
TVC News Kolomi Dala reports that the girls were fortunate to be rescued from the clutches of the Boko Haram terrorist group by the Nigerian Military on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest.
They showed signs of relief and excitement after being set free almost four years since their abduction in 2014.
The New Theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen Rogers Nicholas proudly handed over the Girls to the Borno state Government.
Borno State deputy Mamman Usman Durkwa, who received the girls on behalf of the governor, thanked the military for their handwork and sacrifice in rescuing the girls.
The apparently happy girls shared their experiences before they were rescued from captivity in the Sambisa Forest.
“I am happy today with all of you people and may Allah give you people the means to rescue my other colleagues who are still there in captivity, ” Salomi Pogu said.
She also spoke on how they were treated in captivity: “When they came to our school that night they set ablaze the school and loaded us into vehicles that took us deep into the forest, far way from town, I was married to one of them. They fed us when they feel like…”
Jamila is not from Chibok but from Pulka, a town located close to the militarily strategic town of Gworza. She was abducted and forcefully married to one of the Boko Haram fighters and has a daughter for him.
” I was taken to different camps at different times. My husband’s name is Suleiman. He is still alive there in the forest,” Jamila Adams
Her mother, Aisha is happy to be reunited with her daughter and couldn’t hide her emotions. “I am just happy and give thanks to God, ” Aisha stated.
The girls who are now in the custody of the Borno state Government would soon be moved to Abuja to meet with the President.
