The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has arrived in Markurdi, Benue State following an immediate order from the President, for the Police Chief to move to the State, in order to restore Law and order in the areas ravaged by killings perpetrated by Fulani Herdsmen.
Idris arrived Makurdi, the State capital on Wednesday and was received by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 4, at the State Police Headquarters.
Police Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, in a statement said that in compliance with the presidential order, the Police Chief was moving with additional five Units of Police Mobile Force making a total of 10 Units deployed to the State.
After inspecting a guard of honour at the state command’s headquarters, the Police boss paid a courtesy visit on the Tor-Tiv and other first class chiefs from Tiv land in Makurdi the state capital where they both agreed on areas of collaboration to tackle security challenges in the state.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Police to chief to immediately relocate to Benue State following incessant bloodletting by the herdsmen in the state.
