Tragedy struck on Tuesday afternoon in Akure, the Ondo state capital as an official of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company was electrocuted.
The incident which occurred in front of a new generation bank at Alagbaka around 4pm threw residents of the area to mourning mood.
According to eye witnesses, the man simply identified as “Chapel” was working on a high tension wire when the wire sparked and electrocuted him.
TVC news correspondent Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the body of the man was hanging on the electric pole for about an hour before a good Samaritan among the onlookers climbed up to bring the body down.
There was however a mild drama when his body was finally brought down as some onlookers raised alarm that the man was still alive.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where his death confirmed.
