Industrial unions in the National Population Commission have kicked against plans to arrest their members on Monday due to their opposition to the reappointment of the Director General of the NPC, Dr. Ghaji Bello.
At a briefing in Abuja during the weekend, the three unions comprising junior and senior staff told journalists that the planned resumption of the NPC Director General will be resisted by staff.
The Unions decided to embark on a nationwide strike on Monday to press home their demands.
The workers are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to rescind his decision to renew the tenure of Bello due to allegations of corruption against him and submitted to anti-corruption agencies.
The population commission staff said the earlier intervention by Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige did not resolve all key issues tabled before him hence their decision to embark on a full strike from Monday.
All efforts to get the reaction of the NPC boss were unsuccessful.
