The Kogi government plans to start a fifteen thousand hectare cattle ranch in the state.
The state is positive this will help resolve farmers and herdsmen clashes.
The Kogi State made this known during a visit to the Ministry of Agriculture to state its readiness for cattle ranching.
Governor Yahaya Bello said adequate land has been secured and the people enlightened.
On his part, Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh allayed fears that communal lands will be forcefully seized and given to herdsmen.
He is hopeful that more states will key into the ranching initiative.
The Minister added that cattle rearing should be seen as a private business that requires government support like other areas of agriculture.
