The People of Idumugbe in Oshimili South Local Government of Delta State are calling for the immediate sack of Commissioner for Land, Kate Onianwa for siding with her kinsman over a dispute over an alleged illegal encroachment of their lands by the natives of Ibusa in Delta State.
The aggrieved community peacefully protested to the Government House in Asaba and submitted three Supreme Court Judgements in their favour over the land tussle to the Chief of Staff to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
These protesters have come to vent their grievance, armed with placards and documents of a supreme court ruling in their favour.
They have accused the Ibusa community of infringing on the Akwu-Ulo land with the support of the state commissioner for lands who is also a native of Ibusa.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor came out to receive the protesters and collected their petition with a promise to transmit it to the governor.
He also commended the peaceful nature of their protest and urged them to sustain the peace in their communities.
But the protesters also urged the state government to intervene and resolve the conflict before the end of September and prevent an escalation of tension between both communities.
