Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Abdullahi Adamu, has lambasted former President Olusegun Obasanjo for attempting to undermine President Muhammadu Buhari’s constitutional rights to a second term. The Nasarawa West Senator spoke at a press briefing in Abuja where he described Obasanjo as a promoter of anti-democratic culture even as he testified that the former president wanted a third term and bribed lawmakers in 2006.
TVC News Senior Correspondent Sumner Sambo reports that these are not the best of times between Senator Abdullahi Adamu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo who were once best of friends while the latter served as Governor of Nasarawa State and the former was in office for eight
years.
At a briefing, the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum replied Obasanjo’s recent letter point by point on alleged accusations of nepotism, clannishness, insecurity and poor economy against Buhari.
Senator Adamu accused the former president of de-marketing President Muhammadu Buhari and attempting to deny him constitutional rights to a second term.
He said Obasanjo is an anti-democrat who wanted a third term at all cost while testifying that cash gifts of N50m (fifty million naira) were given to then federal lawmakers by the former president.
The Nasarawa West Senator appealed to well-meaning Nigerians not to join the coalition movement promoted by Obasanjo due to its double-faced promoters and sinister objectives against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
