Senator Aliyu Wamakko has been announced as the new chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, according to a letter read at Wednesday’s plenary by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
The letter, which was signed by the Spokesman of the forum, Senator Dino Melaye, said it was the decision of majority of the northern Senators.
Senator Ekweremadu, who presided over plenary said the names of all the senators that signed Adamu’s removal as Chairman was attached to the letter.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu is said to have been removed due to an allegation of financial embezzlement to the tune of seventy million naira.
Senator Shehu Sani at a briefing with journalists said Senator Ahmed Lawan, who was the former chairman of the northern caucus handed over 70 million naira to Senator Abdullahi Adamu at the inception of the eight senate which was carried over from 2017.
The money is said to be missing hence the decision by northern Senators to remove Senator Adamu.
