Attackers in Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou killed seven people and wounded about 50 others in a coordinated assault on the army headquarters and French embassy.
The French ambassador has described it as a terrorist attack, and police say one of the attackers who attempted to flee near the city’s main market, was surrounded by security forces.
An emergency medical station was set up at the Municipal Stadium to care for the wounded.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which is the third major assault on Ouagadougou in just over two years.
