Novak Djokovic is hoping to put an injury-plagued year behind him as he makes his return at the Indian Wells’ tournament.
Djokovic has endured the most difficult period of his career since an elbow injury during last year’s Wimbledon quarter-final kept him out of action for the rest of 2017.
The former world number one made a fleeting comeback at this year’s Australian Open in January, but the Serb was in visible pain as he was beaten in straight sets by Chung Hyeon in the fourth round.
After an operation on his elbow and with just over a month of recuperation, Djokovic will stage his return at a tournament he has won five times previously.
The now world number thirteen will play Japan’s Taro Daniel in the second round of the tournament on Sunday
