The troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) deployed in the Lake Chad basin have been instructed to remain vigilant and prioritise the safety of civilian populations.
This directive was given by the Force Commander of the MNJTF, Major General Gold Chibuisi, during his operational visit to troops stationed in Baga, Cross Kauwa, and Bosso. These sectors are located in Nigeria and Niger Republic, respectively.
During his visit, Major General Chibuisi emphasised the importance of the MNJTF’s mission and commended the troops for their dedication and hard work. He also urged them to continue to work together with their counterparts from other countries to achieve their common goal of ensuring peace and security in the region.
He also encouraged the troops to work collaboratively with other security agencies and local leaders towards ensuring peace and security in the region.
General Chibuisi called upon all citizens in the region to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
He reiterated that the MNJTF remains committed to its mandate, and in collaboration with other security agencies, it will continue to protect the citizens, combat insurgency and promote peace and security in the Lake Chad basin region.
The Force Commander appreciated the local leaders for their continuous support towards the MNJTF and national operations.
The visit to the Bosso Regional Mayor Arimi Shattima provided an opportunity for him to appeal for more support from local leaders and citizens towards the MNJTF operations.
The Force Commander acknowledged that a united effort is necessary to combat the threats to peace and security in the region.
