UK manufacturing in 2017 has got off to a much stronger start than expected, according to the Q1 2017 Manufacturing Outlook published on Monday (6 March) by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and BDO, the accountancy and business advisory firm.
The latest quarterly survey showed that UK firms reporting growth had risen to 31% in the first quarter.
This, the survey said, marked the fastest rate since the third quarter of 2013. Meanwhile, the balance of firms reporting an uplift in orders stood at 29%.
Both of these were double what was expected.
