Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal has honoured the female pilgrim who returned misplaced 80, 000 dollars to the owner during this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The pilgrim, Aishatu ‘yan Guru Nahuce, is a native of Bungudu Local Government area in Zamfara State
She found cash sum of $80,000 equivalent to Sixty four million, two hundred forty thousand (N64,240,000) and handed it over to the Zamfara Pilgrims Welfare Agency officials for onward return to the owner
A statement by the Spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, says, the Governor in company of traditional rulers honored the pilgrim at a brief ceremony held at the Council Chamber, Government House, Gusau.
The Governor expressed Zamfara State Government’s joy and happiness over the sincerity of the pilgrim who has proven to be Good Ambassador.
“The entire people of Zamfara State are proud and happy over what Hajiya Aishatu did in Saudi Arabia. It has added to the good name of the entire people of Zamfara” Gov. Lawal said.
“It is an honor for us not to Hajiya Aisha alone or her family, she has written her name in the good books of history. Such a gesture is expected of any faithful Muslim, especially while in a holy land” he added.
“We have seen a clear example of honesty worth emulating from Hajiya Aisha, believe me, not everyone can find such a huge amount of money at a place where there was no one, and return it to the owner,” the Governor said.
The governor however said his administration will play it’s part to help the family of Hajiya Aishatu
” Zamfara State Government on its part would the needful to Aishatu for writing the name of the state in gold.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also honor Hajiya Aisha for this act of honesty.” Gov. Dauda Assures.
Earlier, the Emir of Bungudu, Hassan Attahiru stressed that the pilgrim’s action has generated more respect for the entire people of Zamfara and ask God to bless her.
